Consumer Law

Consumer Law
Consumer law is a branch of the law that governs private law relationships between customers and the companies that provide the products and services.
In 1995, the Federal Government of Pakistan established the Islamabad Consumer Protection Act, which was the first consumer law in the country. Afterward, provincial governments followed suit, and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial assembly approved the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Consumer Protection Act, 1997. To defend customers' rights, the provincial assemblies of Baluchistan and Punjab approved the Baluchistan
Consumer Protection Act in 2003, the Punjab Consumers Protection Act in 2005, and the provincial legislature of Sindh passed a Consumer Protection Bill in 2015. The primary goal of enacting these Practices into law is to create a successful society in which all customers may feel comfortable and where fake acts are not tolerated.
After these Acts are approved, district consumer courts are formed in all districts of Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Baluchistan, with Sindh provincial enactment pending, so that consumers may conveniently access these courts to safeguard their rights. The network of district consumer protection committees has been established in all four provinces of Pakistan, in addition to these district consumer courts. These councils are formed to educate the general public on their basic consumer rights and advantages.
